“EXPENSIVE” (Gold, Jewels, Luxuries, Things Looking Expensive,…) is the challenge for this week’s Thursday’s Challenge over at spunwithtears.com. Thanks to host Dale for the fun challenges. Click here to enjoy the wealth of pictures this week.
My contributions are weddings & receptions.
We have been enjoying more birds visiting our little area outside our apartment. We live across the street from a shopping center. There are several tech companies within a half mile radius. An Interstate and two tollways intersect within a couple of thousand feet. So I consider this an urban area. Any birds I see are a real bonus. Just this week a cardinal visited but flew before the camera could be retrieved. Luckily this killdeer, though elusive, did allow me to capture a few shots!

The fields and roadsides in this area of Texas have had acres covered in blooming flowers. This week I am joining in Macro Monday 2 with a slightly different view of the Texas Bluebonnet, our state flower. Have I mentioned I am a 4th generation Texan?
Here is the roadside and field where the above shot was taken.
The field of flowers continued over the hill as well as to the right for over 200 meters.

I stepped outside to get a shot of the fluffy clouds this afternoon and found a giant sized doughnut overhead! For more skies visit Yogi’s Skywatch Friday.
I stepped inside the door, slipped into some shoes and stepped back out the door. The giant had evidently found the doughnut and taken a bite!
PS: I have cleaned my lens now!

This Thursday’s Photo Challenge is”TRANQUIL” (People Relaxing, Fair Weather, Skies, Quit Waters, Calm Landscapes,…) Click here to enjoy Tranquil presented by others.
This photo was taken about 40 miles south of the US/Canada border in 2008. Taking a stop to stretch our legs we were fascinated by the rows of clouds. The clouds were unlike any we saw in the Midwest. The beauty of the Great Plains is just so vast and inspiring.
No unusual birds outside my door today. I’ll depend on the devout birders on Wild Bird Wednesday to bring the beautiful, exotic and unusual birds to our lives. Mourning doves, sparrows, house finches, and a bully of a Blue Jay doing battle with another bully Mockingbird have been delighting us as we sipped our tea today.
Macro Monday 2 shares the world closeup. This week I am sharing the trumpet vine flowers on our patio. Click here for all the beauty of this earth up close and personal!
This Thursday’s Photo Challenge from Dale of spunwithtears is “TRAVEL” (Photographs taken away from home,…). My husband and I like to find buildings that were somebody’s dreams and photograph them. We think in retrospect of our dreams as young marrieds in 1967. These scenes make us realize our dreams may be like these places in time. Here is some long ago Iowa farmer’s dream we photographed during two different seasons. The winter scene was from March 2007 after a late winter blizzard on the Midwestern plains of the USA. We had made a trip to North Dakota to celebrate a 50th Wedding Anniversary of an uncle and aunt. The second was on a return trip in August 2009 for the same uncle’s funeral. The grey skies reflecting our mood at the loss of the last of my husband’s father’s brothers.
I present Somebody’s Dream.

Birds living in urban areas are great at adapting to the surroundings. This dove has nestled in the letters of a local grocery store sign.
