It has been a while since sharing with this meme. That is in large part due a month long road trip. Five of the days were spent in the home state of our host, TexWisGirl. We did Wisconsin. We at cheese in all sorts of forms including delicious fried curds in a pub across from the capitol building in Madison. We sampled all sorts of beer. I put my feet in Lake Michigan. We visited Door County. We even drove by The Green Bay Packer Stadium though we are Dallas Cowboy fans. We fell in love with this beautiful state.
Here are just a few of the fences and scenes from the wonderful state of Wisconsin…. which my husband would not always stop so I could photograph. Please, excuse blur and splattered bugs!

Behind this fence are cranberry marshes along Highway 80 heading for a night in Mauston, WI.
There are local FFA groups studying cranberry science. They offer tours of the cranberry marshes.
And that is the end of day one. We had fresh, squeaky curds as well as locally made jerky and sausage sticks for tomorrows travels! Next up will be the area around the Wisconsin Dells.

oh, be still my homesick heart! hwy 10 runs thru my home town and lynn dairy is not very far away! and fried cheese curds…it’s been years since i’ve had them. 🙂 thanks for the dash of wisconsin for this homesick texWISgirl. 🙂

WOW! I had no idea this was your home area. We just always take the roads less traveled in our journeys! And Lynn Dairy was where we purchased the freshest cheese curds. So glad I could give you a little of home! I lived away from home for 38 years so I really understand.

I have never EVER seen cranberries growing in a bog. I bet that was something of interest.
It all looks beautiful…and I MUST SAY I love cheese. 🙂 Oh and I’ve never had fried curd before. Hmmmm. I seem to be missing out on a lot.

We are very fortunate to have toured bogs on Cape Cod during harvest season. It was really interesting to see the process. I was able to go on google and find these bogs or marshes as they are called in Wisconsin. And the fried cheese curds were a highlight!

Cheese curds!?? did you say cheese curds? I hope you had some in Québec…it is what I missed the most when I lived in Toronto…fresh cheese curds. Love your photos especially the winding road, farm and house…really beautiful!

We did not do cheese curds there! Enjoyed the ones we had in Wisconsin. We saw so much beautiful scenery my eyes were tired!

At the counter next to cash registers at most convenience stores here there are fresh curd cheese…right on the counter…yum! Even Walmart has adopted our fresh curds…they are near the cash and the ones a day old are in the fridge.
