Wild Bird Wednesday – 130

So glad to be settling back in to a semi-normal routine.  I have missed my birding blog friends.  Our son’s girl friend’s dad is an avid birder!  I certainly enjoyed visiting with him at Thanksgiving.  Then he presented me with The Sibley Field Guide To Birds as a gift.  Yesterday and today I have been searching the book for the birds photographed on our early December trip to the Texas coast.  I would like to share a few with you.

I was not certain if this was a plastic bag or a bird at first.  Had to use some zooming to determine.

This lovely reddish egret was not the least bit happy about the wind causing such a bad hair day!

Then I just was way too close for comfort!

Great Blue Herons were foraging, resting and flying about the birding area.

Further along the walkway this bird was foraging in the grasses.

  1. The Reddish Heron is so funny with the bad hair day! Posing on the fence, the Great Blue Heron’s feathers are arranged just perfectly, I’m impressed. The one with its wings spread out is hilarious, especially the first pose. Great shots.

  2. All stunning shots of the various Herons. Funny you mentioning dyslexic to Stewart because although I am not dyslexic, since starting blogging there are words that I always type backwards!! It is so frustrating. and is one of them. adn is usually what I write.

    • Glad you liked the shots. It was a wonderful area to see s many birds. Many were certainly accustomed to humans as they stayed in place while we walked quietly about. I am only mildly dyslexic, enough to make for funny reading at times.
