Thursday I took my morning stroll around the newly discovered small pond. My camera had one of the old manual lens on it. The lens was more for closeup shots so my turtle hardly shows there on the rock. Back home I tried for some ant shots. Gonna get the hang of these lens yet! Just so glad I am not having to endure the cost and time for film developing!
The little speck on the smallest rock is a turtle.
Back to our place for some closeup shots.
Oops! What did I set wrong that time :>(
Now, that’s better & there’s the sky.
And one last critter working on another critter.
Wishing all the folks that drop by a fine weekend. Thanks for dropping by for a visit. I do appreciate your kind comments. Make sure you visit Skywatch Firday and Saturday Critters for lots of beauty from around this wonderful world.

Chuckle, chuckle, I’m just learning to handle my new macro too and finding it very difficult to have a steady enough hand but there’s a lot of fun in the trying.

It is being a bit of a fun challenge! Old lens, new camera for me.

I very much relate to your commentary today. 🙂 I’m trying to learn a new (to me) camera and, thus, a new lens. I’ve graduated from a point-and-shoot, to a ‘real’ DSLR.
I had to enlarge your first image to see that little turtle. I know I would never have spotted him with my own eyes to take his picture! He’s tiny!
Hope you have a nice weekend. Going to be rainy here.

Well, Lindy, it is nice to know I am not alone on this learning adventure! I had the wrong lens to get a decent shot of the turtle. There was a larger turtle today. I’ll change lens and try for another shot later this week. It is sunny and hot here today. Could sure use some rain here.
Grandsons are back and will be joining them for dinner this evening.
Hope you have a pleasant weekend, also.

this seems a bit of a challenge for ou but good on you for persevering. macro is difficult and I have not mastered it yet.

The biggest challenge is using the manual focus lens, one macro, one distance. And, yes, I am determined to get better at it.

I agree with your comment about not paying for film developing – experimentation is one of the things I love about digital. I do like the ant close-up!

Thanks. I was using the manual lens purchased in 1975. It is fun seeing what I can do with it. Thanks for the visit, too, Al.

I’m trying to get out of ‘auto’ mode, too! I don’t think I’d be taking photos if they weren’t digital and so easy to delete 🙂

Me too, Betty. Delete is my favorite ‘adjustment’ for pictures.

Love that photo of the ant! I enjoy taking photos, but admit I’m not very patient when it comes to learning all that my camera can do. I took some photos of the full moon tonight, but they turned out horribly and the mosquitoes were a little too excited to have me out there alone in the dark, so I gave up after ten failed shots. Well, Wendy, nothing like pesky mosquitoes to break one’s concentration. I have not gotten a good moon shot either. I have purchased a remote so I do not cause giggle. Will try maybe for the harvest moon! Have tripod, will travel!

I couldn’t figure out the 35 mm last year when that’s all I had to use (hubby took the small digital on a trip) and now that we have a better digital, I am still learning how to use all the bells and whistles. I get so mad trying to do macros! Your ant is great!

Take heart, Marie, as you are not alone in this quest. I shoot a couple of shots at one setting, change only one thing, then try again.
